The Timeless Way of Building is a 1979 book by Christopher Alexander that proposes a new theory of architecture (and design in general) that relies on the understanding and configuration of design patterns. Although it came out later, it is essentially the introduction to A Pattern Language and The Oregon Experiment, providing the philosophical background to the Center for Environmental Structure series. It has had a huge influence on creative thinking, especially in the areas of architecture and software design.

Subject: Beginning of Chapter 7 is missing.
There are a couple of pages that are missing from the beginning of chapter 7.
I'm still reading the book, until now, the quality that Alexander describes seems to be on the same lines as Pirsig's Metaphysics of Quality.

Subject: Book is excelent, OCR is poor, though
The contents of the book are excelent. Alexander is a must-read for anyone who is interested in patterns of any kind (software development patterns come from this).
The Kindle version is depressing, though. I believe the optical character recognition didn't work out well and we have weird characters among text and stuff like "lime I ess way" intead of "timeless way". It's hard to read that way.
In this review it is not clear if one should evaluate the contents or the digital condition of the material. I'll give it 3 stars. 2 for the content and 1 for having this book. I hope there's a way to help, so I could make this book better.
